奔涌千里万里的海潮
寻找飞渡时空的桅杆

拾贝壳，采海草……

Tonight I dream that I am the sea tide,
The sea tide that surges far and wide
To seek the mast traversing space and time,
And the fairy islands that in coconut trees half hide.
From deep ocean I’ve hied to here
For nothing, but to you, my dear,
My dream, saying hi.
Tonight I dream that I am the sea tide,
The sea tide, by evening glow golden-dyed,
That seeks the white sail traveling the vast ocean,
And the seagulls of whirling wings wide.
From deep ocean I’ve hied to here
For nothing, but to you, my dear,
My dream, saying hi.
Tonight I dream that I am the sea tide,
The sea tide moonlit, sleepless-eyed.
Sleepless because the fireflies-strewn island
I have dreamily espied,
And my dream tells me it is my lighthouse -
From deep ocean I’ve hied
To here for nothing
But quietly around it clinging.
Tonight I dream that I am the sea tide,
The sea tide crooning with the breeze from east side.
Crooning because when I truthfully cling
Around the cottage with cooking smoke up-curling,
My dream tells me it’s my final home to abide.

To here for nothing but holding your hand:
Apart from the bustling world, we’ll grow old side by side.
Darling, tonight, indeed I am the sea tide -
That’s not a dream, for I’m wakeful-eyed
And you’re sleeping in my arms, sweet.
My waves are in the gentlest beat
Patting your dream, your dress, your wear,
Your face, your hands and your feet.
Your sleep is so sound, so quiet, so fair,
Now with a murmur, now with a smile sweet.
Tonight, I am the sea tide open-eyed,
Billowing sea tide, torrential sea tide,
That in the ocean severs the land and continental shelf.
My surging tidewater will block the tunnel of life and death,
Which leads you to the heaven or the hell.
Ageless we shall live, younger day by day:
We’ll ride a whale, floating everywhere as we may;
We’ll sing antiphon with seagulls, race against goonies,
Debate with seahorses, and chat with sea turtles at ease.
We’ll drift from the Gulangyu Isles to the Fiery Cross Island,
From the Bermudas to the Midway Island,
Sightseeing or sleeping the whole way;
From the Nile to the Cape of Good Hope,
From the Mediterranean to the Sardinia,
Picking seashells and plucking sea-plants...
