一向年光有限身，
等闲离别易销魂，
酒筵歌席莫辞频。
满目山河空念远，
落花风雨更伤春，
不如怜取眼前人。

TO THE TUNE OF HUANXISHA
1.
Our life is but a measured span of light―
Our heart breaks often at each parting night.
Decline not, then, many a feast and rite
With their terpsichorean art so light.
When only landscapes fill our eyes so bright,
In vain we'll miss our loved ones out of sight.
When rough winds cause spring petals to alight,
By greater sorrow will we be seized tight.
Then why don't we cherish the one in sight?

Life is but a span; years are fleeting.
A goodbye, plain yet heartbreaking.
Ah, say not that much no to partying.
Scenery there, friends I'm missing.
Falling petals provoke my longing.
Ah, cherish spring and your darling.

Spring is short but so is life,
cheerless with the pain of partings!
How much is left for enjoyment?
I say to you:
Never reject music and wine!
Isn't it vain to miss friends afar?
I am sad to see flowers falling
during wind and rain.
My advice:
Cherish what you are holding!

Life is short with occasional fleeting moments,
Casual partings prompt emotional torments,
No need to refuse merry banquets too often.
Distant obsessions seem futile in front of all the rivers and hills,
Falling petals in breezy rain further saddens a spring season,
Just cherish the ones around you with due appreciation.

Human life is transient and quickly spent;
It’s rife with partings by which my heart is rent.
Oh, happy banquets I should frequent.
Vast land and sky, how are my folks far apart?
Flowers gone with wind, I grieve to see spring depart
But more cherish my now and here sweetheart.

Life is short and time is fleeting!
Common scene is the parting that leaves heart bleeding!
Enjoy yourself with drinking and dancing
And excuse yourself not from partying!
The sight of distant river and mountain
Stirs my missing for far-away home in vain.
Fallen blossoms by chill wind and fierce rain
Only add to a roamer's unspeakable pain.
Better to cherish the ones right at side
Than to weep for those beloved beyond sight.
【作者简介】晏殊（991年—1055年2月27日，字同叔，抚州临川（今属江西）人。北宋政治家、文学家。晏殊以词著于文坛，尤擅小令，风格含蓄婉丽，与其第七子晏几道被称为“大晏”和“小晏”，又与欧阳修并称“晏欧”；亦工诗善文，原有集，已散佚。存世有《珠玉词》《晏元献遗文》《类要》残本。
