坐在海岸上的母亲

母亲坐在海岸上　她凝然不动

像一块石头

一块伫望海水的石头

我不知道她看到了什么　真的不知道

八十六岁的母亲　她有太多的故事

太多的辛酸　太多的不平　太多的艰难

因此　我无法看到她所看到的东西

我从来没有看见过母亲落泪

也从来没有听见她叹息命运

母亲一直都是一块石头

坚硬地坐着　坚硬地 面对风浪与苦咸

而把我们藏在她的身后

藏在风吹不到浪打不到的地方

现在　母亲坐在海岸上

她的面前是大海　落日坐在大海的对面

此刻大海就是一架天平

母亲一生的岁月就和一颗太阳

放在天平的两端

Mother sits by the sea

Mother sits by the sea, so still,

Like a piece of rock,

Gazing at rocks in the sea.

I don’t know, what she has seen, don’t know indeed.

At eighty-six years old, she has too many stories,

Too many sufferings, grievances and hardships.

I just can never see what she has seen.

I’ve never seen tears from mother,

Nor have I heard her sighs about fate.

Mother is always like a rock,

Sits upright, firmly braving storms and bitterness,

While hiding us behind,

She protects us from waves and gales.

Now, mother sits on the shoreline,

The sea is in front of her,

With a setting sun on the far side.

The sea becomes a scale,

On it’s two sides,

lies a sun and mother’s lifetime.

【作者简介】李曙白，1949年出生于江苏如皋。1968年高中毕业后插队农村8年，1977年参加“文革”后第一届高考，入读浙江大学化工系，本科毕业后留校至今。当过农民、民办教师、车工、大学团委干部、教育电视编导、校报编辑等，已退休。上世纪70年代开始文学创作，已出版诗集《穿过雨季》《大野》《夜行列车》《沉默与智慧》《临水报告厅》及其他著作多部。中国作家协会会员。民刊《诗建设》杂志社长。现居杭州。
