Father, You Are a Boat
Author: Huang Zhonghe （China)
English translation: Zhong Quan(USA)
Father, you are a boat
Once you carried me to salvage my lost childhood
To search for my shattered dreams
To break through the five lakes and the four seas
To challenge anybody east or west, south or north
Cross the rivers and the oceans
Hunt for food
Break blue waves and cut stormy waves
Harvest my dreams
You've carried away my troubles
You've carried away my sorrows
You've carried away my loneliness
You've carried away my hesitation
You've carried back a boatful of sweetness
You've carried back a boatful of hopes
You've carried back a boatful of aspirations
You've carried back a boatful of splendor
How many times the boat
Has been wavering in the wind and rain
How many times the boat
Has been swaying on the top of the wave
How many times the boat
Has escaped danger by the reef
How many times the boat
Has escaped from deaths
Oh, father, you are an auspicious boat
You are a happy boat
I would like to become a sail to help you navigate
I would like to become two paddles to propel you forward
