The Efficacy, Application, Nature, Flavor and Meridian Tropism of Cornus officinalis

The Cornus officinalis is sour and astringent, with a slightly warm nature. It passes through the kidneys and liver to keep the body healthy.
It can arrest discharge and sweating, and treat soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees, as well as frequent urination and spermatorrhea.

Deficiency of yin and blood leads to dizziness, and it can inhibit many pathogenic bacteria.
It treats impotence, spermatorrhea, low back and leg pain, dry mouth, sore throat and nourishes yin.

For chronic illness and collapse, it eliminates internal heat, consolidates essence and stops bleeding, and helps warm yang.
It treats excessive uterine bleeding and vaginal discharge in women with weak constitutions.

It promotes diuresis, lowers blood pressure and treats dizziness, and kills bacteria, quenches thirst and counteracts cancer toxins.
It treats spermatorrhea, frequent urination, nourishes yin and blood, and treats deficiency of yang in the kidneys and liver.

For deficiency asthma due to failure of the kidneys to receive qi, it reduces fire, raises yang and stops tinnitus.
[Dosage and Usage] 6-12 grams. For large doses, 30 grams are often used. Decoct and take orally.
It is contraindicated for those with hyperactivity of yang in the kidneys, inherent asthenic heat, and poor urination.
