I Like
Leanne Li 李华
I like seeing your smile—
not just for how it lights the room,
but for how it softens the whole world.
It floats like the purest cloud
in a sky so blue it forgets to be heavy.
And somewhere inside me,
that smile settles—
deep, quiet, eternal.
If morning arrived in hush and haze,
I’d wait for just one glimpse of you—
your hair falling softly,
like night still lingering in the arms of day.
And if I passed your window,
I’d catch a sliver of sunlight,
the gentlest gold I could find,
and place it carefully in your room—
not to wake you,
but to remind you
how much light I want you to carry.
I imagine your words don’t just speak—
they move.
They rise like warmth through a cracked window,
escaping into the bustling world,
carrying with them the heartbeat of your wonder,
the rhythm of your thoughts,
the poetry you don’t always know you’re writing.
They wander far—
through streets and skies—
and wherever they land,
they bloom.
Just like the words you shared with me spontaneously.
Don’t believe me? Then come—
open the door at anytime.
Let your footsteps echo like springtime itself,
a season unfolding with each step you take.
Your walk, a song; Your breath, a melody.
And somewhere in the quiet—
my soul plays its saxophone,
soft and low, only for you.
Your sails would rise without your asking.
The breeze would find you.
And if you heard seagulls crying,
waves crashing in rhythm with your pulse—
know this: that is my music,
woven from longing, whispered into the sea,
just for you to hear.
Listen closely—there are roses,
planted gently in the corners only for you.
Their petals blush pink,
holding pearls of morning dew—
a fragrance I promised you
before you even knew to ask.
It carries the scent
of everything you hope to be,
and everything you already are.
And I—
I would light the brightest stars,
scatter them across the quietest skies,
so that your every dance like by the sea
could glide freely over the deep blue
I call my heart.
Let me see you in white—
not because it’s soft,
but because it’s strong.
A lotus blooming in the stillest water,
born of depth, carrying a silence
more powerful than words.
And let me see you in red—
a gown of fire and feeling, trailing the stars,
gathering the moon, moving like a dream
that remembers how to soar.
And me? Let me be the sky above you.
Not just the one you look up to,
but the one that inspire you
when you forget how high you can rise.
Let me be the blue
you’ve always searched for—
the one that waits without asking,
that gives without end.
Let your poems rise. Let them echo past the clouds,
past the clock hands, into the heart of everything.
And if a meteor crosses
the lake of your heart— don’t be afraid.
It’s not falling; It’s arriving.
A rose set aflame, sent from me to you.
Because expecting you to be perfect—
believing in you to be the best —
writing this for you... is already enough. And still,
somehow, never will be.
