    鼓瑟湘灵斑竹哀，

he zither of Xiang's spirit grieves the mottled bamboo,

    银针破月翠岚开。

Silver needles pierce the moon, through emerald mist they break.

    一湖云液帘帏透，

A lake of cloud-like brew through curtain's veil shines through,

    半盏春岑天上来。

Half a cup of spring hills descends from heaven's sake.
