沐雨新芽，
葱茏翠卷，
小桥连着长亭。
锦玉金芳，
忒多古怪精灵。
吴侬软语争教我，
对柚香、
慢理尘缨。
忆当年、
曲巷斜衿，
濯洗琼英。
悠悠岁月青梅醒，
望南翔夕晚，
梧叶心情。
伴尔迢迢，
雁书相契相倾。
秋霞尽处寻幽迹，
从别过，
细写云程。
愿如今，
小字珠玑，
重叙春声。

Those Green Youthful Years
——To the Tune of High Balcony

New buds bathed in rain fair,
Lush leaves curl in the air—
A little bridge, a pavilion there.
You shine like gold and jade，
With many whimsical thoughts arrayed.
In a soft voice you would cheerly teach me,
’Neath pomelo tree,
To smooth my robe, so free.
I think of those days:
Th’ lane wound, your robe askew;
You seemed like blooms with dew.
Green plums wake in my mind as days slip by;
I gaze: dusk birds fly south on high;
Parasol leaves sigh ’n’ sigh.
With you far apart,
Through letters we share one soul and heart.
Where autumn clouds fade I seek for your pace;
Since parting we face,
With care long days I trace.
Right now I do pray:
Pearls of words shine for aye,
And sing our young spring’s lay.
