Fang Jiong - ＂Oriental Aesthetics · Echoes Across the World: A Role Model for Cultural Export＂

Fang Jiong, courtesy name Shangzhi, art names Songshan Woodcutter, Songxi Idler and Master of Chenxin Studio. Born into a scholarly family, he currently serves as Honorary Professor of the Department of Art and Design and President of the China-US Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute at Wenzhou-Kean University.

He was enlightened at an early age and influenced by his father, an artist, at the age of five. At ten, he studied calligraphy and painting under Fang Jiekang, a grand master of seal carving, calligraphy and painting. When he turned twenty-one, he joined the Wenzhou Arts and Crafts Research Institute to further his artistic pursuits. At thirty-three, he received personal guidance and artistic insights from renowned Chinese painters including Wang Geyi, Tang Yun, Cheng Shifa, Zhu Qizhan, Liu Danzhai and Ye Luyuan, gaining profound mastery of traditional Chinese art. At fifty-five, he went to the United States to promote artistic exchanges in Chinese calligraphy and painting between China and the US. He has held numerous exhibitions in Los Angeles, San Diego and in United States, as well as Guangzhou and Wenzhou of China, earning a high reputation at home and abroad.

Art Exhibitions & Honors：

• 2017: Held solo exhibitions at Los Angeles Art Museum and Kean University, USA; participated in the Invitational Exhibition of Renowned Artists hosted by the Art Center of Art Weekly.

• 2018: Staged the Hope and Love — International Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition in San Diego, USA.

•2019: Served as Chief Chinese Coordinator for the Special Exhibition of Fine Works by Contemporary Masters & Academic Symposium commemorating the 120th birth anniversary of Zhang Daqian in Los Angeles, USA.

• 2021: Presented Rhythm of Calligraphy, Mood of Painting — Fang Jiong Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition at Yishidai Art Museum, Guangzhou.

• 2022: Held calligraphy and painting exhibitions during the 5th American Heritage Cup International Art Festival in the United States, working concurrently as art consultant, judge and mentor of the festival; hosted another exhibition at the Institute of Ancient and Modern Art and Han Tian TV, USA. He was awarded the Outstanding Mentor Award at the 5th American Heritage Cup International Art Festival.

• 2023: Won the GZAF International Art Classic Award at Guangzhou International Art Fair and the Outstanding Mentor Award at the 6th American Heritage Cup International Art Festival. His exhibition Grace and Freedom — Fang Jiong Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition was launched at Nan Huaijin Academy, Wenzhou.

• 2024: The Fang Jiong Art Hall was established at Wenzhou-Kean University, with the opening exhibition Fang Jiong Calligraphy & Painting Gathering held on the occasion.

方炯，字尚志，号松山樵夫、松溪闲人，称心阁主人， 出身书香门第，现任温州肯恩大学艺术设计系荣誉教授，中美书画艺术研究院院长。

5岁受父亲画家啟蒙濡染，10岁师从金石书画大师方介堪学习书画，21岁调温州市工艺美术研究所研习书画，33岁得中国画坛名师王个簃、唐云、程十发、朱屺瞻、刘旦宅、叶潞渊等的画作和指点，而得入堂奥。55岁到美国从事中美书画交流活动，陆续在美国洛杉矶、圣地亚哥、新泽西州与中国广州、温州等地举办书画展，在国内外享有高誉。

2017在美国洛杉矶美术馆举办书画展；美国肯恩大学举办书画展;参加"2017美术报艺术中心名家邀请展”

2018美国圣地亚哥举办 "希望与爱﹣国际书画展";

2019担任美国洛杉矶"海外纪念张大千诞辰120周年现代名家珍品特展暨学术研讨会"中国总召集人；

2021在广州艺时代美术馆举办《书韵．画境一方炯书画作品展》;

2022在美国《2022第五届美国传承杯国际艺术节》举办书画展兼任艺术节艺术顾问、评委、导师； 在美国《古今艺术研究院和美国汉天卫视》举办书画展；获美国《2022第五届美国传承杯国际艺术节﹣优秀导师奖》;

2023获广州国际艺术博览会《GZAF 国际艺术大奖﹣艺术经典奖》;获《2023第六届美国传承杯国际艺术节﹣优秀导师奖》; 温州南怀瑾书院举办《舒展临风总自由﹣方炯书画作品展》；

2024温州肯恩大学设立"方炯艺术厅”举办《方炯书画雅集展暨方炯艺术厅开幕展》；
