Han Tianyong, born in June 1957 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, China Academy of Art, as well as a scholar specializing in Japanese cultural studies.
He earned his Bachelor of Foreign Languages and Literature from Liaoning University in 1984. In 1992, he obtained his Master of Arts from the Department of Chinese Painting, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts, studying under Professors Sha Menghai and Liu Jiang. He was awarded a Doctor of Arts in Calligraphy by the Institute of Chinese Calligraphy, Capital Normal University in 2001, with Professor Ouyang Zhongshi as his supervisor.
Currently, he serves as Director of the Research Center for Ancient Character Calligraphy Creation, China Academy of Art, President of Zhejiang Oracle Society, and a researcher at Zhejiang Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History. He is also an external reviewer for master’s and doctoral dissertations at the China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center, distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, and distinguished professor at Gifu Women’s University in Japan. Besides, he is a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association and Xiling Seal Art Society.
From 1998 onwards, invited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, he gave lectures at Gifu Women’s University and many other Japanese institutions for twelve consecutive years.
His major publications include Japanese Seal Carving Art, Buddhist Sutra Copying, Three Great Calligraphers and Their Styles, A Study of Sino-Japanese Chan Calligraphy, History of Japanese Calligraphy, Complete Annotations to Side Inscriptions on Seals by Renowned Artists of Past Dynasties in China, Seal Carvings of Wu Changshuo, and a ten-volume calligraphy collection Han Tianyong’s Large Seal Script. Among his works, A Study of Sino-Japanese Chan Calligraphy won the National Social Science Art Fund Award during China’s 11th Five-Year Plan Period, and Complete Annotations to Side Inscriptions on Seals by Renowned Artists of Past Dynasties in China was named one of the Century Outstanding Books in 2024.
He has also published over ten albums such as Collection of Han Tianyong’s Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Works and the deluxe album Collection of Han Tianyong’s Calligraphy, alongside more than 30 academic papers on calligraphy and seal carving in core journals.
He has curated a number of major exhibitions, including the 2010 National Oracle Bone Calligraphy Exhibition (Rui’an Sun Yirang Cup), the 2014 National Ancient Character Exhibition Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of Wang Guowei’s Passing in Haining, and the 2021 Luo Zhenyu & Luo Lin Oracle Bone Calligraphy Exhibition.
His calligraphy works are collected by dozens of art galleries and museums nationwide, including the National Art Museum of China and Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

韩天雍,1957年6月生,辽宁沈阳人,中国美术学院中国画与书法艺术学院教授、博士生导师。日本文化研究学者。
1984年获辽宁大学外国语言文学学士,1992年获浙江美术学院国画系文学硕士,师从沙孟海、刘江教授,2001年获首都师范大学中国书法研究院文学博士学位,师从欧阳中石教授。现为中国美术学院古文字书法创作研究中心主任、浙江省甲骨文学会会长、浙江省文史馆馆员丶教育部学位与研究生教育发展中心硕博学位论文通讯评审专家、上海美术学院特聘教授、博士研究生导师。日本岐阜女子大学特聘教授、中国书法家协会会员、西泠印社社员。
1998年以来,应日本文部省邀请,赴日本岐阜女子大学及多所大学讲学十二年。著有《日本篆刻艺术》《佛教写经》《三笔三迹》《中日禅宗墨迹研究》《日本书道史》《中国历代名家篆刻边款释文集成》《吴昌硕篆刻》《韩天雍大篆》系列法帖十种。其中《中日禅宗墨迹研究》论著获国家“十一五”社会科学艺术基金奖、《中国历代名家篆刻边款释文集成》获2024年"世纪好书"奖。
此外,出版《韩天雍金石书画作品集》《韩天雍书法作品集》(大红袍)等十余种,发表书法、篆刻论文及其核心期刊30余篇。
主持策划2010年瑞安孙怡让杯全国甲骨文大展丶2014年海宁纪念王国维逝世90周年全国古文字大展丶2021年罗振玉罗琳甲骨文书法大展等。其书法作品以中国美术馆、国家钓鱼台国宾馆等几十家美术馆、博物馆所珍藏。
