Don Dorian had a class reunion.
(Chinese New Romance)
A paradise of paradise
The sound of reading outside the window.
It caught my ears.
Forty years later, I returned to the Academy.
Once upon a time, we used to meet by the stream,
There is no end to remembering in my dreams.
We met each other with tearful smiles.
It was too much to look at.
His head was white and his heart was troubled.
I wish my joy would last without waking,
In the sunset, be serene.

Comments:
I. Professional Analysis by sentence
Previous film: Returning to the Old Place, Hearing Remember
"The sound of reading out of the window."
The opening sentence sets the scene in a very plain language. It does not write about the entire campus, but only takes a corner of "outside the window." The "reading sound" is the most recognizable sound symbol on campus, with a strong sense of being evocative and evocative. A word "outside," which indicates that the person's identity is a "returnee" rather than a "reading person," leads to the nostalgia tone of the whole word.
"It sounds very pleasant to me."
"Luong" is a superimposed echo word, which creates the characteristics of clear, continuous and rhythmic sound of the book. The word "in the ear" seems mundane, but it emphasizes the penetration and irresistibility of sound - it not only enters the eardrum, but also penetrates deep into memory, acting as a trigger to trigger 40 years of retroactivity. The two words were used together, creating a tranced and familiar atmosphere when you returned to your old school.
"Forty years, back to the Academy."
The word "forty years" is placed at the beginning of the sentence, and the time span is like a boulder falling to the ground, giving a strong sense of old age. The word "back" indicates the nature of the event and implies a long gap between "go" and "go back." The term "school" - school, school hall - is an old-fashioned name that carries a solemn and classical meaning, and also makes the context not limited to a specific school building, but universally symbolic. The sentence is a three-to-four structure, and the rhythm drops and falls, changing with the smooth formation of the preceding two five words, and the emotion begins to intensify.
"Once upon a time we used to meet by the stream,"
From the eye's prospects, we naturally move to the memory. The "riverside" is a very youthful image - clear, flowing, and backward, complementing the solemnity of the "school palace" and pointing to more intimate and lively friendship among students in their spare time. The word "often gathered" describes the frequent interactions and close relationships of those years, and it also stands in stark contrast to the rare gatherings today.
"There is no end to remembering in my dreams."
Use two three words together, such as two short sighs, and hold the film together. "Dreaming" takes memory forward to the dream level, showing that forty years of thoughts about schoolmates and youth have long reached deep into the subconscious. "Memory is endless" means that memory is long and endless. The upper part goes from reality to reality, from the sound of reading in your ear to old times in your dreams, and space-time begins to superimpose, preparing for the emotional explosion in the lower part.
Next Episode: Reunited across from each other, sadness and joy
"We met with tears and laughter."
The next film opens with a close-up of the characters' movements and appearances, going straight to the party scene. The combination of "tears" and "laughter" constitutes a strong contradictory rhetoric that accurately captures the most typical expressions of classmates when they reunite: the tears flood because of the long absence and the past, the laughter because of meeting and old friendship. The two are a modification to each other, and they are neither simple joy nor simple sorrow, but a thrill so complex that it cannot be expressed. Five words write a complete dramatic moment.
"It wouldn't be worth looking at."
The word "heavy" has the dual meaning of "again" and "heavy." Looking at each other, the most direct emotional communication between people, is now "ugly" because the eyes reflect the changes of four decades - wrinkles, gray hair, exhaustion, the worldliness and sadness that the years have accumulated in the eyes. This sentence shifts from external appearance to internal psychology, writing about the subtle state of mind that the author is afraid to look directly at the other person: afraid to see the other person age, afraid that the other person will see him or her age, and afraid of the emotional barrier that suddenly collapses in the eye.
"My head is white and my heart is troubled."
"Whiteheaded" is the most visually shocking imprint of time, writing out the facts of aging in a nearly cruel representation. The sentence above three and below four makes the word "white with head" short and powerful, like a stick on your head. "Troubled minds cannot be reconciled" expresses a visceral feeling, writing about the turbulence of inner emotions. "Chaos" is the tangle of complex emotions such as joy, sadness, lamentation, sorrow, regret, and fear. "Hard to calm" means that this emotion is not a momentary impulse, but a constant churning that is difficult to calm down. Both physical appearance and psychological interaction drive the impact of reunion to a high point.
"I wish I had a happy life without waking up,"
A shift from intense emotion to a near-pleading desire. "Cheerful" means the state of gathering, drinking, and enjoying each other. "Long-term unawakening" means both drunk and unconscious, and implies the unwillingness to wake up from this moment of gatherings and to return to reality. This is a struggle against the mercilessness of time - since waking up is to be parted and old, it is better to become drunk with the warmth and buzz of the moment. This sentence has an escapism, but it is also because of this that it shows the value he attaches to fellow students.
"In the sunset, be serene."
The ending is a portrait of love, and two three words are veiled and rhyme-free. "Under the sunset" was both a truth - the party was near dusk and the sun was setting in the west; It is also a symbol - life is in its twilight and time is limited. "Calm down" is self-help, a kind of emotional settlement after a "trouble" experience: now that white hair is growing and the sun is near, rather than indulging in grief, let's face it calmly. This "calm" is not indifference, but self-settlement after the vicissitudes, and reconciliation of life after the experience. The conclusion goes from intense to peaceful, but there is still a subcurrent underneath the peace, which is especially intriguing.
II. Comprehensive in-depth appreciation
1. Space-time structure: 40 years of fluctuating between dimensions
The word uses "return to the schoolyard" as its hub, creating a multi-temporal structure of "now - past - dream - now - future." The last film, from the sound of reading out of the window, returns to the youth gathering by the stream, and extends to endless thoughts in other dreams. The next film goes from the tearful scene of the moment to the visual shock of white hair, and points to the twilight of life "under the sunset." The 40-year time span is compressed into a short space of six crosses, using a montage of imagery to create a strong tension between space and time. The word "dreaming" and "not waking" echo each other, suggesting that the speaker always attempts to retain youth and friendship in dreams or intoxication, but eventually must face the reality of "sunset," and the ups and downs of emotions are clearly discernible.
2. Image Marketing: Hearing, Vision, and Mental Movement
The full word image was well chosen and layered. It begins with the audible image of "reading sound," which evokes memories. Then the "riverside" serves as a geospatial space to hold youthful memories, with a flowing, shallow texture; The next film, "Tearfully smiling" and "Whiteheaded," turns to visual close-ups, especially the "white hair" and "sunset" constitute a double metaphor of color and symbolism - the white hair is the reflection of time in the individual, and the sunset is the representation of time between the heavens and the earth, both of which point to irresistible aging. A line between the image forms from "sound" to "color," from "outside" to "inside," from "past" to "present," step by step, step by step.
3. Paradoxical Rhetoric: complex emotions mixed with sadness and joy
The subject of class reunions is itself filled with emotional contradictions: the joy of reunion coexists with the sadness of old age, the youth of memory contrasts with the present age. The words use a great deal of opposing and unified methods to present this complexity: "tears" and "laughter," "disappointment" and "reconciliation," "happy" and "unawake," "sunset" and "calm," and even the "past" and "forty years" above all constitute tension. In particular, the sentence "Meet each other with tears and laughs," which in five words condensed the most typical contradictory expressions of humans when they meet again, became a high-density cohesion point of the whole word's emotions. This contradictory rhetoric is not compassionate or exaggerated, but is more infectious because it is true.
4. The style of language: plainness reveals deepness
The whole word does not use outlandish references, does not pile up rhetoric, and the language is nearly white-brushed, even with a hint of colloquial color, such as "lusciously eared," "white head," "confused heart," etc., all derived from ordinary words. However, because of their simplicity, emotions are more genuine and touching. Instead of deliberately pursuing strange words and phrases, the writer took the language back to the emotions, and allowed the reader to face directly the friendship and life appreciation that had been taught by the years. This "unskilled technique" is especially rare in contemporary Old Testament poetry.
5. Theme sublimation: An attitude to life from sadness to serenity
If the whole word ended with the sadness of "a troubled heart," it would be just an ordinary piece of nostalgia. What makes it valuable is the turning and sublimation at the end, "Under the sun and at ease." The poet did not shy away from aging and separation, but chose to live with time in a serene manner, on the basis of acknowledging the relentlessness of time. This serenity is not numbness, not indifference, but self-settlement after all the vicissitudes, a sublimation of emotions rather than a dissolution. It allows the whole word to show lucidity in depression and wisdom in sadness, thus going beyond the limitations of the ordinary class reunion theme and touching on the general dilemmas and possible postures of humankind in the face of time and life.
6. Words and rhymes
The upper and lower sections of Dontoric each have five sentences and four flat melodies, and the sentence length is mismatched, especially the upper three and lower four structures and the two three words at the end of the third sentence in the upper and the lower portions of the sentence are naturally suitable for expressing pauses and endings. This word is based on the "eleven g" part of the Chinese New Romance, and the rhyme "sound, middle, palace, poverty, greeting, eye, flatness, and yuan" is a loud and long rhyme that fits the deep and far-reaching emotional tone of the word. The two three words at the end, "Under the sun, and at ease," slow down like a long sigh, with a tingling afterword.
epilogue
With a return to the school as its entry point, "Don Dolby's Classmates" completes a four-decade space-time journey through delicate scene capture and emotional portrayal in just six crosses. The writer began his writing by "the sound of reading," and closed it by "the setting sun," bringing together individual students to develop a universal understanding of life, time and old age. Its emotions are sincere and not abusive, its language is flat and tasteful, and its structure is elaborate and natural, especially in the areas of "Meet each other with tears and laughs" and "In the setting sun, and at ease," which are both emotional climaxes and spiritual destinations, which can be called the eye of the whole word. This is a fine work of very emotional writing with a normal heart, which has considerable infectiousness and aesthetic value in contemporary Old Testament poetry.
