将积雪

匀给一道溪谷的激荡。

溪水里，三文鱼

逆流而上，

划开几圈涟漪，

把海洋

背回故乡。

渡口。

挥别的手臂

正弯成缆绳的弧度，

默记下一次靠岸。

十月，请收好几片枫叶，

几片云，几圈涟漪。

然后，转身——

等雾

还回来。

October, Keep These Safe

The wind once more coaxes from the harbor

the breath of firs.

The maple, washed clean by rain,

lifts the waking glow upon its branches.

A red leaf lets go,

falling toward a cloud

not yet sunk into the deep sea.

And the cloud hears a whale

rolling over above the snowy peak.

The peak turns to one side,

sharing its snow

with the turbulence of a ravine.

In the stream, salmon

swim against the current,

parting ring after ring of ripples,

bearing the ocean

home on their backs.

The ferry landing.

An arm waving farewell

curves into the arc of a mooring line,

already memorizing

the next return to shore.

October, keep these safe:

a few maple leaves,

a few clouds, a few ripples.

Then turn—

and wait for the mist

to give that person

back.
