The Carrousel Hall of the Louvre, located at the inverted pyramid landmark on the basement level of the Louvre designed by Chinese American architect I.M. Pei in 1989, is closely connected to the Louvre Museum, the Carrousel Shopping Center, the Carrousel Garden, and the Tuileries Garden. It was the royal residence and banquet venue of the Louis XIV era. The upright pyramid on the ground marks the entrance to the Louvre Museum, while the inverted pyramid on the underground level forms a sharp contrast with the Grand Pyramid of the Louvre, symbolizing the center of the Louvre's Carrousel Square, which is the entrance to the underground Louvre Museum and Carrousel Hall.
